Walls
I’ve had this “song” (if you can call it a song) sitting around on my computer for a while. I forgot about it and then stumbled across it today and it fit my mood pretty well so I’m posting it.
As Roper would say, “hope you hate it.”

Peoria
Our first week in Peoria is almost up and things are going well. A lot has been unpacked and besides not having a bed at the moment our apartment is starting to feel like home.
We still haven’t been out in the city much. We don’t know our way around the roads or stores yet and believe it or not we haven’t seen any of the rest of the Peoria team who’s already here yet! There will be a team meeting next week where we’ll remedy that, though.
Working from home has been a delight. It’s nice to see Carrie more and to not have to worry about packing a lunch. I can even play video games on my lunch break!
All that aside, I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet that we’re actually moved out of Champaign and this isn’t just temporary. It doesn’t seem real that all our friends and family are nearly two hours away! We’re definitely open to visitors if any of our friends want to help make that transition smoother!
Thanksgiving
There are many things I should be thankful for and many more things I could be thankful for, but mostly this year I’m thankful for a wonderful wife who cares for, supports, and challenges me. We’ve been married four and a half years but I feel like I’m still just beginning to get to know Carrie and understand how wonderful she is!
Happy thanksgiving everyone! Sorry if that was too cheesy for you. ;)
Mixtapes
Mixtapes (a.k.a. mixed tapes). As Laura said:
Remember mixed tapes, how rad were they? I guess now I should say, “put this on your next mixed CD”, but that just doesn’t sound as good.
A couple mixes have been passed between friends and I’m thinking it’s time to step it up and share my eclectic tastes as well. Want me to make you a mix? Drop a comment (possibly with some bands you like) and I’ll send a CD your way. You’re free to reciprocate, but it’s not required.
Summer
corn, it seems
springs full grown from the ground
to towering heights
and soy leaves
in their months-long dance
sway with the wind and rain
The grub feasts and
the sparrow as well
in shade and brush and dirt
for the summer sun beats relentlessly
sustaining all things
Soliloquy
I would like to think I could be a poet on purpose.
Delivering smooth lines to you convincingly.
Stunning you not with what I said, but how I said it.
But it doesn’t really suit us, talking like that
Surprise!
Carrie is finishing up her school work this week and it was Jenna’s first day on the job, so we threw a surprise party! Well, a surprise for Carrie, anyway; Jenna was in the know. It was a smashing success, filled with cake, ice cream, games, and YouTube videos.
Covers
It feels like a great night for serious, toned-down covers of ridiculous songs (think Alanis Morisset covering My Humps). I posted these to livejournal way back in the day, but here they are again.
