Radio Fatigue
My coworker in the cube next to me listens to the radio all day long. Sometimes I just can’t take it any more and I retreat to my headphones. I don’t know how you people who work with the radio and don’t have that option put up with it.
At the moment I’ve been drowning it out with Mumford and Sons, Blue Giant, and Freelance Whales. Guess I’m on a folk-rock kick.
Sometimes what I really want though is silence. On those days when 4 o’clock rolls around and my coworker leaves it’s pure bliss.
Backgrounds, Deluxe Edition
I had someone point out that my backgrounds might look better without all the solid black so I cropped a couple of them and spiced ’em up. Enjoy.
Some Background Images
One of my hobbies is messing around with computer generated music and images. I sent some of my artwork to a friend of mine who’s in school for graphic design and she encouraged me to make some background images with it. Here’s the result. You might recognize the first image from an earlier post. (Click any thumbnail for the full 2560×1600 image.)

My Brain Isn’t Worth Much
I do not believe in the Gospels in a literal fashion, but a Bach fugue has the Crucifixion in it–as the nails are being driven in. In music, I am always looking for the hammering of the nails…. That is a dual vision. My brain rejects it all. But my brain isn’t worth much.

Chrome
I tried out Google’s Chrome browser when it first hit public beta and have continued to use it on my Windows machines since then. It fits with how I’d best like a browser to function more than any other browser I’ve tried out. That’s not to say that it’s perfect but I would recommend at least trying it.
Last week Google released some promotional videos for it on the Chrome YouTube channel. One in particular struck me as capturing some of what makes Chrome a pleasure to use:
Daylight Saving Time
At the back of the Daylight Saving scheme I detect the bony, blue-fingered hand of Puritanism, eager to push people into bed earlier, and get them up earlier, to make them healthy, wealthy and wise in spite of themselves.
